The Cult have announced three special summer shows in Cardiff, Halifax and Scarborough alongside a full EU Tour.

Accompanying the tour announcement is the release of The Cultā€™s fiery, expressionistic new video for ā€˜Vendetta Xā€™, the third single from ‘Under The Midnight Sun’.

The Cult – ‘Vendetta X’

AsĀ The CultĀ return to the stage to launch the next chapter ofĀ ‘Under The Midnight Sun’,Ā Ian AstburyĀ hopes that the albumā€™s new dimensions provoke reactions both primal and sublime in listenersā€™ consciousness – echoing what he himself experienced during its creation.

ā€œAt the core of it all, music contains the vibrational frequency of how we once communicated before we could even speak,ā€ Astbury says. ā€œBird songs, animal calls, string theory, quantum physics, psychedelicsā€¦ The record ultimately becomes about discovering and celebrating anew the beauty from those strangely natural moments that surround and inspire us.ā€

Regarding the forthcoming album the duo say,Ā ā€œAs our music is progressing, weā€™re finding our sound even more.Ā  When we went in the studio this time, weā€™ve never been so sure on what we wanted to createā€”we had a really clear vision and have stuck to it.Ā Ā
Ā
ā€œBefore we held back on being too rocky, but this time we allowed ourselves to create what we wanted to hear, without restricting ourselves. We also allowed ourselves to express the different colours to our music with tracks like ā€˜Goldenā€™ and ā€˜By Your Sideā€™, so this album has more extremes.Ā  We still call upon our influences from all the years but remain true to ourselves to create music we love.ā€

Dead Man’s Whiskey return with ‘Masquerade’

Dead Man’s Whiskey have this week shared their latest single, ‘Masquerade’, which you can check out above!

The single is the first track to be taken from a forthcoming new studio album, ‘In The Storm’, due out September 29th.

Vocalist Nico Rogers says,Ā ā€œ’This song has been a bit of a journey for us. In its earliest form we’ve had this song for a couple of years, although it’s grown a lot.

It’s brimming with a kind of dissatisfied energy we all had while we wrote it, in a way I think a lot of people will feel too. It’s a rallying cry against what’s happened to music right now, the three ringed circus of algorithmically generated hits that keep turning up. We know how far we are from those perfect cookie cutter artists and this song is about that dichotomy. We don’t want to conform, we make the music we love.
Ā
I think that shows in the sound too, not just on this track, but on the album as a whole. It’s heavier, darker. Like we got a little older, found a new gear, and now we’re going full throttle in it.ā€

Norwegian metalcore act Fixation are now gearing up for their debut album with the release of a brand new single ‘Ignore the Disarray’.

About the new track the band states:Ā ā€œThis song is about those with a desire to control other people. It’s not about religion itself, but about those who use religion or their perception of reality to justify oppression, hate and control.ā€Ā

DEADLETTER – ‘The Snitching Hour’

DEADLETTERĀ share new single ā€˜The Snitching Hourā€™.

Lead singer Zac Lawrence comments: “Are we slowly but surely being tacitly tempted into a culture of casual betrayal? The messages we are fed, on the outside, might be read as being solely in the interest of public safety – but take a closer look, and perhaps thereā€™s a more insidious undertone to it allā€¦”

The Throwaway Scene – ‘Fake Death’

Sheffield emo rock outfit, The Throwaway Scene have released their brand new single ā€˜Fake Deathā€™.

ā€œThis track is a slight departure from my previous lyrical stylings/choices with a view of exploring narrative that was less self-centered. I think vocally it just ā€œfeelsā€ different too ā€˜cos the delivery of the lines is a lot more direct than before. Due to lifeā€™s unfortunate timing we were recording vocals on the day we found out a family member had passed so Fake Death will always be quite a personal song.ā€ – Vocalist, Oliver.

Describing the new single, Blondshell explains, ā€œI was listening to a lot of Britpop when I wrote this song. A lot of those bands like The Verve, Pulp, Suede, and Blur channelled dark subject matter, drugs, and all this dirty stuff, but with a fun acoustic guitar under it. Iron Maiden announce new Triple Vinyl to commemorate 40th Anniversary of ‘The Number of the Beast’

The legendary Iron Maiden have announced the release of a commemorative triple black vinyl album in honour of the 40th Anniversary of seminal third album, ‘The Number Of The Beast’, which was also the first to feature Bruce Dickinson on vocals and was to become the record which catapulted the band to international stardom.

Included in the new vinyl package is ‘Beast Over Hammersmith’ – available now officially for the very first time on vinyl – featuring the live concert from March 1982ā€™s now legendary Hammersmith Odeon London show from the ‘Beast On The Road’ World Tour.

Recorded only days before the release of ‘The Number Of The Beast’ album, itā€™s remarkable to think these now classic songs at that time were still brand new, unfamiliar and being heard live by fans for the very first time. A real piece of history in the making.

Steve Harris comments, ā€œOn this vinyl release we get the chance to put ā€˜Total Eclipse’ in its rightful spot on the album for the first time. The reason it didnā€™t make it in the first place was that it was all a mad rush when we were finishing the record and we had to get the ā€˜Run To The Hillsā€™ single out before the tour and we basically had to pick a B-side and it was between ā€˜Ganglandā€™ and ā€˜Total Eclipseā€™ and we just picked the wrong one, really! I think ā€˜Total Eclipseā€™ is a stronger song and the album would have been stronger if it had been on there.ā€

As Jools Gizzi says: ā€œWhen the pandemic hit we realised that it was the perfect time to try and counteract the bleakness that was all around. It felt like we couldnā€™t write anything, or of course tour. Out of that darkness came a desire to completely rework these songs that we know the fans love, and bring a different, stripped down vibeā€.

Dante Gizzi added: ā€œItā€™s ironic that those feelings of negativity led to something so positive, a celebration of our career up to nowā€.

Willie says, ā€œā€˜Dreamsā€™ is a song I wrote when thinking about the cost of an ambition. The idea behind the video is, what would life be like if you had to carry all of the money you made on your back, and that if you did have to carry it you probably wouldnā€™t want as much.ā€™ā€

We bring our News Report towards a close now with the best tour announcements from the past week and start with Tom Grennan.

Grennan revealed an Arena Tour set for March next year which concludes at the O2 Arena in London.

The news follows new single, ‘All These Nights’ and comes ahead of new album ‘What Ifs and Maybes’.

Speaking about the new album, Tom said:Ā ā€œI’ve called my new album What Ifs & Maybes. It’s about going with your gut, not your head, because you never know what’s going to happen. I’m not afraid to jump into the unknown – because it’s exciting! It’s about rolling the dice and living your best life with nothing to lose. I’m in a new creative space, and I know I’m finally the artist I want to be. I’m so buzzing for these shows, my biggest gigs to date. I can’t wait to get out and play these new songs to everyone. Charlotte Sands – ‘Tantrum’

TikTok star and queen of angsty pop/rock, Charlotte Sands, has released her hard-hitting, fan favourite single ā€˜Tantrumā€™.

On the track, she said, ā€œā€˜Tantrumā€™ is so special to me because since the first time I played it live, people immediately latched onto it and have been fighting for its release ever since. This song not only represents experiences of anxiety, panic, and rebellion throughout my life and career but also the journey and relationship between me and the people who have made my career possible. Iā€™ve been playing it live for over a year now and Iā€™m thankful for the people who have pushed me out of my comfort zone to release a song that without them would still be sitting in a folder somewhere on my phone. I am overwhelmed with excitement for this song to finally be out in the world, itā€™s been a year in the making (almost to the exact day) and I canā€™t wait to finally be able to throw a tantrum together.ā€

As Sirens Fall – ‘heaven (spat us back out)’

As Sirens Fall share their new single, ‘heaven (spat us back out)’.

ā€˜i started writing heaven (spat us back out) just as our last ep ā€˜lā€™appel du vide (part 1)ā€™ was releasing. that ep was a project about grief, and ā€˜heavenā€™ very much comes from that same place. itā€™s about giving up on the hopeful delusions that often come packaged with grief. itā€™s about realising youā€™re coming of age in a dark world and choosing to face it all and grow up anyway – choosing to live.ā€™ Mikey Lord, Vocals

Arliston – ‘Hold My Wine’

Arliston return with the stirring and spirited new single, ‘Hold My Wine’, taken from forthcoming EP ā€˜Even In The Shadeā€™.Ā

Vocalist Jack Ratcliffe says, ā€œWeā€™ve been wanting to make something a bit more playful for a while, so when we first hit on that chorus idea and made a silly middle-class pun on ā€˜hold my beerā€™, everything just fell into place around it. This one was a lot of fun to make.ā€

Jack adds,ā€œThe song is about that occasional moment of recognition when you look up from the narrow corridor of your own thoughts and are seized by the idea that everyone else has progressed and developed, while you are stuck in an unchanged rut. The protagonist attempts to do something about it in the chorus ā€” but inevitably, he gets it wrong.ā€Ā
