BRANDON FLOWERS – THRASHER – ALBUM REVIEW
This isn’t the first time that Brandon Flowers has stepped away from the comfort blanket of his day job, but ‘THRASHER’ does represent a new direction for the frontman of rock n roll icons The Killers.
It is however a direction that it rooted in the past with Flowers leaning into the country influences of his upbringing and his father’s musical tastes. With country music continuing to take over the world, you can cynically say that there’s no better time than now for him to do so.
Flowers though as always proven himself to be a musical chameleon of sorts, effortlessly transitioning between genres and aesthetics.

Country has always been present in his work both solo and with The Killers, but it isn’t just an influence or an echo on ‘THRASHER’, it is the essence of the record. Fans looking for big stadium anthems then will be disappointed, but for music fans eager to see Flowers get deep and personal then this is a brilliant opportunity.
At its core ‘THRASHER’ is a simple and fun country romp as Flowers welcomes us all to his latest rodeo.
When you holistically look at his solo career and The Killers catalogue, this has been the longest gap between new albums in his career. It’s great to have Flowers doing what he loves and still able to surprise two decades in!
