2000trees line-up grows

It was a good week for festival fans this week as our News Report continues with this stunning line-up from 2000trees Festival!

The absolutely stacked line-up now features added American Football, Eagles of Death Metal, Electric Six, Employed To Serve, Joy Formidable, Tigercub and Black Honey.

The full line-up also hosts the likes of Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes, Hundred Reasons, Skindred, Deaf Havana, Rival Schools, Bob Vylan, Empire State Bastard, Holding Absence, Kid Kapichi, Cancer Bats, Dream State, LostAlone, Witch Fever, Blackgold, Guise, Mimi Barks, Pet Needs, Press To Meco and many more!

ā€œFor us, seeing fans just as excited about the bands lower down the line up as they are about the bigger artists is what 2000trees is all about, and this announcement is no different. Heriot and Kneecap were big personal highlights from 2000trees 2022, so to be able to have Heriot return to smash the Main Stage and Kneecap bringing the carnage to the Forest Stage is going to be something special! And thereā€™s still two headliners to come sooner than you might thinkā€¦ā€ – Festival booker James

This week saw Underoath return with their brand new single, ‘Let Go’, which you can check out above.

In discussing the song, the band said, ā€œThis is actually the first song we completed after recording (last yearā€™s) Voyeurist. It took a few different forms but we got it to a place where we knew this is what it should be. Itā€™s about letting go of whatever trauma or demons that might be holding you back. As hard as it is to make those decisions sometimes, I feel like we can never grow without stepping out of those toxic environments.ā€

snake eyes debut ‘no one is truly cool’

snake eyes ‘no one is truly cool’

Brighton’s snake eyes have shared new single, ‘no one is truly cool’, and you can check out the video above.

Commenting on the new single, vocalist Jim Heffy says: “I met a bloke in a band I like at a festival after separately having a really lovely chat with one of their bandmates. he was stand-offish and, to be honest, a bit of a prick, giving proper ā€˜too cool for schoolā€™ vibes. the whole exchange left a bad taste in my mouth.ā€

ā€œthe fake cool guy thing can only go so far. no need for a fake personality. just be real, be yaself. even Keith Richards puts down the whiskey and cigs sometimes and watches ā€˜the last of usā€™ in his pants with a bowl of nik naks like everyone else.ā€

The official video for the track was created by the bandā€™s drummer and visual director Thomas Coe-Brooker, who explains of the concept: “in keeping with the song, we thought it’d be fun to make a really cool looking video in the least cool of spaces – a family garage. kinda like when you’re having band practice as a teenager and you’re all really sending it like total bad asses…but ultimately, your mum’s seconds from bursting in to tell you it’s too loud and that your dinner’s ready. that, but with satisfying, nicely framed angles and dreamy in-camera long exposure, 90s style.”

Hell’s Ditch – ‘Ghosts’

Hell’s Ditch have shared new single, ‘Ghosts’, ahead of their debut EP, ‘Take Cover’, out March 23rd.

Vocalist Nick Davis explains: “Ghosts is about the hanging weight of the past, the present and the future. Capitalism puts a premium on individual success, which leads people to feel like their failing if they don’t achieve certain goals or milestones. It’s all too easy to plant trees, grow them, and then cut them down inside the confines of your own head. I wrote most of the lyrics while watching my cats seemingly stare at nothing on the ceiling”.

paradise fell. – ‘VICES.’

Alternative artist paradise fell has shared their debut offering ā€˜VICES.ā€™.

ā€œVICES. is a frantic confrontation of the irony; that something which kills us slowly, sets us free in the moment. It makes us feel alive. The bad habits we have are the only things that can save us from the drudgery of daily life. The very things that are killing us, become a cornerstone of our identity. They become familiar. They become part of who we are. A comfort in a chaotic world.ā€ – paradise fell.

Hunch Power – ‘Eye for an Eye’

Hunch Power hits back with their new pacifist anthem, ‘Eye for an Eye’.

“I’d been wanting to write a pacifist song about revenge for ages. I was sure about borrowing Ghandi’s famous words for the title and chorus but I couldn’t find the right music to go with it. One day I remembered an old idea I never demoed and realised the music matched perfectly so I wrote new lyrics and the band loved it” – Singer Harvey Springfield

Enter Shikari share ‘(pls) set me on fire’

Enter Shikari – ‘(pls) set me on fire’

It was a big news week for Enter Shikari this week with the band sharing news that they will release new album, ‘A Kiss For The Whole World’ on April 21st.

The band also debuted their latest single, ‘(pls) set me on fire’, which you can listen to above.

And if that wasn’t enough, the group have also announced a unique monthly residency in the UK throughout February, March and April.

Rou Reynolds comments on the singleā€™s conception: “Honestly, I thought I was f*****. Iā€™ve never felt so detached from my soul, my purpose, my f****** spirit. I didnā€™t write music for almost two years. The longest Iā€™d gone before that was two weeks. I was broken. Itā€™s almost as if my brain had asked: ā€œWhat is the point in music if it cannot be shared? What is the point in writing music if itā€™s not to be experienced with others?ā€ and then promptly switched itself off. ā€˜(pls) set me on fireā€™ grew out of that desperation. This song is a projectile vomit of positive energy. Every emotion trapped inside me for two years, finally set free.”

Reynolds continues: ā€œBack to basics. This band – my best friends – bundled into an old farmhouse, miles away from anywhere. Off-grid, and ready to rediscover ourselves. This album is powered by the sun, the most powerful object in our solar system. And I think you can tell. Itā€™s a collection of songs that represent an explosive reconnection with what Enter Shikari is. The beginning of our second actā€.

Singer Colin Doran had the following to say about the lyrical theme behind the new song:

“Replicate is about the cycle of thinking that whatever you do just is not good enough despite the person closest to you being forgiving and supportive. It’s also about trying to second guess how a person may feel about an action but not being correct and getting it wrong.

Black Stone Cherry – ‘Out of Pocket’

There isn’t long until Black Stone Cherry return to these shores for a headline arena run alongside The Darkness.

Ahead of those dates though, the band has found time to release new track, ‘Out of Pocket’, which you can listen to above.

Talking about the song Chris Robertson says, “Out of Pocket is a song born out of that exact feeling. The song was what I personally, and I think a lot of us, felt over these very trying last couple of years. Facing your demons, knowing that you have to come out the other side stronger than before.”

Black Star Riders debut ‘Catch Yourself On’

Black Star Riders – ‘Catch Yourself On’

Black Star Riders will release their new album, ‘Wrong Side of Paradise’ on January 20th, but this week saw the band share new track, ‘Catch Yourself On’, which you can check out above.

Ricky Warwick comments: ā€œ ā€˜Catch Yourself Onā€™ is a phrase often used in my home country of Northern Ireland, itā€™s used to tell someone to ā€˜stop being ridiculousā€™ or ā€˜to get realā€™. Weā€™re sadly becoming slaves to technology and social media (guilty as charged). We donā€™t think twice about sharing our inner most feelings and thoughts with a world of strangersā€¦ We seem to be losing the ability to think for ourselves. Technology is controlling us, instead we should be controlling technology. It feels like itā€™s already surpassing human interaction.”

ten56. share ‘Saiko’

ten56. – ‘Saiko’

We close this portion of our News Report with ten56., who have released their new EP, ‘Downer Part. 2’, and to celebrate they have released a video for the track ‘Saiko‘.

The band comments, “We’re all extremely gassed up to put out the second and final (?) chapter of the ‘Downer’ saga ; we went all in on Part.1 and definitely felt the pressure to deliver with Part.2, we went in harder and we’re all extremely satisfied and excited to see what everyone thinks.

‘Saiko’ is the kind of energy that we wanted to bring back after releasing ‘RLS’, we hope that everyone enjoys what we’ve put together, and that people will find little pieces of themselves littered around the EP. Downer’ Part.2 is the next step in the continuous evolution of ten56., turn it up loud and get lost in the discomfort. Harpy – ‘Swallow’

Goth-pop mistress Harpy has gifted the world with new music, the empowering ‘Swallow’.

Harpy divulges… “Swallow sounds like the traumatised hate f*** child of Sam Smith’s ā€˜Unholyā€™ and Kornā€™s ā€˜Twisted Transistorā€™. We wrote this song almost two years ago, and up until this point Iā€™ve really just been setting the scene for this moment. I am calling out abusers and manipulators through this song, some even by name, they had their chance to be better, time to taste the truth. I hope this song gives power to those that have been unforgivably hurt by others, who for too long have abused positions of power.”

ANGER PARTY – ‘Eat You Alive’

Alternative Horror Rock band ANGER PARTY have unveiled their debut offering ā€˜Eat You Aliveā€™.

ā€œBlood, guts, flayed flesh and a shattered smile – these are the things that plague our minds. ā€˜Eat You Aliveā€™ explores the surreal, menacing corners of our nightmares and how they breach the lines of reality in a modern world.ā€ ā€“ Guitarist Owen Claxton.
