Itâs the night before Halloween and itâs a typical autumnal evening in Cambridge. The bars and restaurants are bustling and the Junction is doing what they do best and welcoming music fans in for an eclectic night of entertainment.
BAND OF SILVER
The first act to grace the stage this evening is Band of Silver hailing from Nashville. The sibling trio have a modest early crowd to win over, but they set about doing just that. The three bands tonight are an eclectic mix as already mentioned, but Band of Silver are pretty darn eclectic themselves!
Mixing rock and pop with elements of new wave and prog, there is an awful lot going on with their sound. This isnât a bad thing and certainly makes for an interesting half hour, although the audience doesnât really reciprocate the energy exuded from the stage. Further exploration of Band of Silver is definitely on the agenda though as the band do the most important thing and leave a mark.
SICK JOY
The main support act on the tour are Sick Joy who slow things down with their darker, grungier sound. The crowd has grown in both size and intensity as the venue is captivated by the groovy rockers.
Following the release of their debut album last year, Sick Joy are already building their next phase and recent single, âHypodermic Sunshineâ, gives a positive glimpse of whatâs to come. The band are well on the way to establishing themselves as a must see act and shows like tonight will only grow their fanbase further.
THE HUNNA
Cultivating a fanbase isnât something that has been a problem for our headliners The Hunna. Ever since the band broke through in 2016 theyâve been on the cusp of huge things. Their debut album has ensured that the band will always be able to pack out venues like tonight and itâs no surprise that by the time the band come on the venue is full and raring to go.
From the moment the band arrive onstage you feel in the presence of something special and the atmosphere ramps up throughout the likes of âWe Could Beâ, âFugaziâ, âI Wanna Knowâ and âCanât Break Whatâs Brokenâ.
Self-titled album, âThe Hunnaâ takes centre stage tonight amidst a well structured, career-spanning setlist. The album continues the bands momentum and is a great collection of songs, many of which come across well live tonight with âApologiesâ and show ender âTrashâ particular highlights.
The main set closing run of âSheâs Casualâ, âBonfiresâ and âDareâ is electric as youâd expect and with the tease of new music on the horizon, itâs very clear that The Hunna still have plenty more to offer.
There were no tricks at the Junction tonight, but for those in attendance there were an abundance of treats!

We move our News Report onwards now to the best new releases from the past week, and where better to start than with You Me At Six?
Releasing their second new track in as many months, the group continue their new era with the Rou Reynolds featuring ‘No Future? Yeah Right’, which you can listen to above.
Willow‘s new album, ‘<COPINGMECHANISM>’, is out on September 23rd, and there was new music to enjoy this week. You can listen to new single, ‘curious/furious’, above.
Kodaline will be releasing their stripped-back live album, ‘Our Roots Run Deep’, on October 14th. This week they released the live single, ‘High Hopes’, which you can listen to above.
Regarding the single Steve says, ââHigh Hopesâ is one of our oldest songs, itâs also the first song I ever wrote and sang that really resonated with me on a personal level. Iâve lost count of how many times weâve played it but there was something special about this performance. Thanks to David Doyle for playing cello and to the crowd for singing along with us.â
The Black Angels share new single ‘Empires Falling’
With the release of new album, ‘Wilderness of Mirrors’, The Black Angels have debuted new single, ‘Empires Falling’, which you can check out above.
The band shares, ââEmpires Fallingâ is a critical and reflective plea that examines humanity’s repetitive art of violent mass destruction. As we say in the chorus, “it’s history on repeat.” We are living in a Wilderness Of Mirrors, where itâs hard to tell whatâs right from wrong, up from down, or the truth from lies as we navigate through these times where the fate of humanity is being refracted and reflected from one state of panic to another.
The world is a “bleeding animal” and we are left exhausted, polarized, and “pleading from street to bloody street.” History has proven, time and time again, that without a drastic metamorphosis from our leaders, politics, and ultimately ourselves… “you can be the one who saves yourself, or you can watch it all go to hell.”
Hamish Hawk shares new single ‘Think of Us Kissing’
This week saw Hamish Hawk announce that new album, ‘Angel Numbers’, will be released February 3rd. Not just that but Hawk also shared the first single, ‘Think of Us Kissing’, which you can watch above.
Hamish had the following to say about the themes behind the single:
“Think of Us Kissing comes at you like a cannonball. It’s a tragic, romantic song about the music industry. It looks at the lengths an artist may or may not go in order to have glory showered upon them. It’s about the pitfalls of success, the perils of fame and the curse of ambition. It’s as loud and dangerous as a speeding train, and it’s a true anthem. It’s the biggest song I’ve ever written.”
We close our News Report this week with the latest single from PVA as they prepare to release debut album, ‘BLUSH’, on October 14th. You can listen to new single, ‘Bunker’, above.
Speaking on the track, the band says, âWe started playing âBunkerâ almost as soon as the band started. Originally just a looped groove, it has evolved into the live track it is today through various compositions and outings live. The song tries to act as a reminder to overcome the want to chase things that ultimately lead to isolation.â
Pastel have shared new single, ‘S.O.H.O’, taken from upcoming EP, ‘Isaiah’, which follows October 21st.
Guitarist James Yates says, âThis EP feels like a step up, like weâre growing musically and expanding on our sound! Itâs everything weâre about. Trippy and chilled out with a proper deep groove to it. No other young British band is doing anything nearly as good, and we cannot wait for things to pop off in 2023 when our debut album drops.â
Rosellas – ‘Switch Off’
Fresh from a busy festival season, Rosellas share new single, ‘Switch Off’.
Rosellas commented, âThis is a tune driven by a punchy, contemporary beat and moody guitars that centres its focus around the idea of getting away from it all and switching off from the moment. Not chasing dreams 24 hours a day and losing sight of the reason you began in the first place.â
Little Thief – ‘Lost In Love’
Bristol-based rock outfit Little Thief have released their latest single, âLost In Loveâ.
Speaking about the single, vocalist and lyricist Charlie Fitzgerald says, âWe wanted to write a song that explored the unspoken, unexpected, sultry passion that creeps in when you’re 6 feet deep.â

With support from The National Lottery attendees can bring a friend for free to a plethora of newly revealed shows.
Acts taking part this go around include Everything Everything, Paolo Nutini, The Amazons, The Coral, Baby Dave, Coach Party, Sick Joy, The Goa Express and Thumper!
Inglorious will also be touring later this year with a lengthy trek planned in across the UK. Support comes from A New Tomorrow.
Frontman, Nathan James, comments âI am so excited to get back out on tour with the guys . Over the pandemic we were not able to tour as much as we usually would, but we were able to release albums. So we did! We recorded the We Will Ride album, The Heroine all female covers album and the 1st ever Inglorious live album and dvd. It’s amazing now to be able to pick songs from all of those albums to make the ultimate inglorious set.
On this tour we will be bringing something totally different set wise and we’re really looking forward to playing songs from across all of our albums. Inglorious has always been a strong live act and now more so than ever. Tighter, harder and more determined to show people what we are about.
We hope to see everyone on the âUntil We Die 2022 UK Tourâ and cannot wait make some noise for you all again.â
Burn It Down Festival takes over Torquay again this September and the event has confirmed their stacked line-up for this year.
Headliners Trash Boat and Deaf Havana will be joined by the likes of Static Dress, Our Hollow Our Home, Haggard Cat, Cassyette, VUKOVI, Tigercub, Salem, As December Falls, Death Blooms, Pupil Slicer and more.
We move our News Report on now to the latest new releases, and we start with Deaf Havana.
As the band gear up to release their sixth studio album, ‘The Present Is A Foreign Land’, on 15th July they have debuted new track, ‘Nevermind’, which you can check out above.
LIFE continue to gear up for the release of ‘North East Coastal Town’ on August 19th. You can listen to their new single, ‘The Drug’, above.
Speaking on the new single vocalist Mez Green says: âThe Drug is a love song. I wrote the lyrics in the cold mountains of Italy before taking them into the room with the band. ‘The Drug’ I needed has always been here, the drug I needed has always been near” is, for me, realising that loved ones and those that love you, no matter where you are, can always be present.
I’d never really believed this before and whilst this purity is at the lyrical heart of the song musically the band decided to inject flecks of dance, pop, harmonics, and dirty pulses to give the song drive, repetition and jerk-ability.â
Norway’s Sløtface return with the news that the group’s figurehead Haley Shea will now be leading the band, with Lasse and Tor-Arne leaving to focus on new passions outside the group.
To signal this era beginning they have released a double a-side of ‘Beta’, and ‘Come Hell Or Whatever’. You Can listen to ‘Beta’ above.
“”Beta” was the very first song Mikhael and I worked on together in his studio. It should be listened to while wearing sunglasses, even on cloudy days!
The song is about wanting to connect with people on a deeper level, but feeling like social media sometimes gets in the way, with things becoming somewhat intimidating, shallow and superficial. The song is a confidence booster for myself where Iâm trying to be cooler than I am. It was written at a time when I really, really missed the rush of playing live, and I needed to find some of that spark and edge in myself that only really comes out on stage.”
Finally, this week Twister shared their latest single, ‘Own Worst Enemy’, which you can listen to above.
Singer and guitarist Stevie Stoker comments: âTwister are evolving and progressing with every release and the momentum weâre building on the road is really driving us to bigger and better things in the studio. Itâs such an exciting time.â
Indie rock band Sunsleeper have shared their newest track, ‘Blemishes’.
ââBlemishesâ is about the slow unraveling of a deeply important friendship, as well as the acceptance of the relationshipâs end,â shares vocalist Jeffery Mudgett. âThe freedom in letting go of a toxic relationship is underrated. Sometimes thereâs no need to mourn the end, but rather we should celebrate leaving that toxicity behind.â
cheerbleederz – ‘notes app apologies’
London indie punk trio cheerbleederz reveal their latest single ânotes app apologiesâ.
Commenting on the track and video, the band say: âThis song is about letting go of an abusive relationship. Thereâs a lot of fear and doubt that comes with separating yourself from somebody who manipulates you, and it leaves behind feelings of anger, as well as guilt and doubt.
You end up questioning everything while simultaneously harbouring a lot of resentment for the person who treated you that way. We wanted this song to feel cathartic and unapologeticâit ultimately feels very healing.â
MODES – ‘Infamous’
Kent’s MODES deliver their new single, ‘Infamous’.
MODES frontman Ted Berry reveals that the new singleâInfamous is a song we wrote to reflect on anger and past trauma that we have experienced. We wanted to put this into words to help others feel understood and seen. It’s only human to have been in situations that lead to feeling hurt, angry, and even disappointed in how you have been treated by others.â
