GETDOWN SERVICES – MASSIVE CHAMPION – ALBUM REVIEW
It’s always a good sign when your shows are selling out or getting upgraded. Momentum is certainly on the side of Getdown Services and they look to capitalise on it with their second album, ‘Massive Champion’.
Best friends Ben Sadler and Josh Law released their debut album, ‘Crisps’, to much acclaim in 2023 and now the Minehead duo are back with an even bigger offering that is sure to get people talking.
The joviality of the duo has seen them written off as a joke by some and this album feels like it aims to dispel that assertion whilst also maintaining the overarching fun that their wit and down-to-earth lyricism achieves.

This is definitely a more serious record and that brings with it a smorgasbord of influences. It may actually be easier to list the genres not touched upon across the thirteen tracks, but throughout the band’s identity is intact and that’s a big achievement.
The duo are making their own mark and stretching themselves to be something bigger and it’s working. This album will only fan the fire that has been lit underneath them. These songs will grow legs in the live realm too and that will only increase the attention the band will be getting.
Getdown Services are certainly worth investing in at this point because ‘Massive Champion’ is a massive success!
