Within Temptation share ‘Bleed Out’

Within Temptation – ‘Bleed Out’

Next comes news of a brand new album from Within Temptation!

The band announced this week that, ‘Bleed Out’, will be released on October 20th. You can also listen to the title track above!

Vocalist Sharon den Adel states, ā€œThe war in Ukraine has influenced us a lot. As artists we are inspired by the world, and we have this platform. We are storytellers, and I think as human beings, these are things we should be talking about.ā€

Whilst songs such as ā€˜Wirelessā€™ and ā€˜We Go To Warā€™ examine the authoritarian aggression on display in Ukraine and other warzones, the title track itself addresses the plight of women fighting for their rights in Iran after the murder of Mahsa Amini.

Sharon explains, ā€œI lived in Yemen when I was a kid. My parents lived in several countries in the Middle East, and Iā€™ve visited them a lot when they were there. Itā€™s a different world. Due to my time there, I feel connected to that part of the world. Iā€™ve been so incredibly impressed by the bravery of the young women there whoā€™ve been burning their scarves knowing they were going to be thrown in prison or worse ā€“ itā€™s heartbreaking.ā€

This week saw the band share new single, ‘Usual Places’, which you can check out above.

Tim Wheeler comments: ā€œOriginally written as a tribute to long forgotten bars and faces as I was leaving New York, ā€˜Usual Placesā€™ took on extra significance as the first thing we worked on together post-lockdown. Below the surface of the joy of writing and playing together again, there’s a subconscious grief to all that was lost in those years. Friends and family, pubs and venues. This is our eulogy to them all. No coincidence the video was shot in the Marquis of Lorne, just a walk from Brixton Academy.ā€

Matthew Lowry – ‘Coming For You’

Matthew Lowry shares latest single, ‘Coming For You’.

ā€œI knew right away when I wrote the riff for this song that I needed to follow through on it.  It was so much fun from the start because, for a long time, my songwriting had been missing the hard rock that I grew up loving. The stuff that made me want to put a guitar on.  A little Southern flare mixed with the rock anthems I blasted throughout my entire childhood. No better way to be honest with yourself and move forward than to let out the real stuff you have inside. And since this album is about that journey to embrace yourself and move forward in life, it was perfect.

Once this was tracked in the studio, that feeling I had from the start was confirmed. I wanted this to be the final single before the album came out.  Lyrically, itā€™s pretty straightforward: Iā€™m over trying to be anything for anyone. No more fear, no more paranoia. Iā€™m bringing my shit front and center. This is me, this is my music, this is who I am.

Then to be really me, we knew that we wanted to make the video as ridiculous and goofy as we could.  Since I started planning the album, I had this idea for the ā€œFlamingo County Gamesā€ as a Jackass style backwoods Florida olympics.  A bit of a nod to the Foo Fighters in their golden era of amazing music videos with those huge rock anthems. In the end, it all came together, and I honestly could not be happier. ā€ -Matthew Lowry

snake eyes debut ‘no one is truly cool’

snake eyes ‘no one is truly cool’

Brighton’s snake eyes have shared new single, ‘no one is truly cool’, and you can check out the video above.

Commenting on the new single, vocalist Jim Heffy says: “I met a bloke in a band I like at a festival after separately having a really lovely chat with one of their bandmates. he was stand-offish and, to be honest, a bit of a prick, giving proper ā€˜too cool for schoolā€™ vibes. the whole exchange left a bad taste in my mouth.ā€

ā€œthe fake cool guy thing can only go so far. no need for a fake personality. just be real, be yaself. even Keith Richards puts down the whiskey and cigs sometimes and watches ā€˜the last of usā€™ in his pants with a bowl of nik naks like everyone else.ā€

The official video for the track was created by the bandā€™s drummer and visual director Thomas Coe-Brooker, who explains of the concept: “in keeping with the song, we thought it’d be fun to make a really cool looking video in the least cool of spaces – a family garage. kinda like when you’re having band practice as a teenager and you’re all really sending it like total bad asses…but ultimately, your mum’s seconds from bursting in to tell you it’s too loud and that your dinner’s ready. that, but with satisfying, nicely framed angles and dreamy in-camera long exposure, 90s style.”

Hell’s Ditch – ‘Ghosts’

Hell’s Ditch have shared new single, ‘Ghosts’, ahead of their debut EP, ‘Take Cover’, out March 23rd.

Vocalist Nick Davis explains: “Ghosts is about the hanging weight of the past, the present and the future. Capitalism puts a premium on individual success, which leads people to feel like their failing if they don’t achieve certain goals or milestones. It’s all too easy to plant trees, grow them, and then cut them down inside the confines of your own head. I wrote most of the lyrics while watching my cats seemingly stare at nothing on the ceiling”.

paradise fell. – ‘VICES.’

Alternative artist paradise fell has shared their debut offering ā€˜VICES.ā€™.

ā€œVICES. is a frantic confrontation of the irony; that something which kills us slowly, sets us free in the moment. It makes us feel alive. The bad habits we have are the only things that can save us from the drudgery of daily life. The very things that are killing us, become a cornerstone of our identity. They become familiar. They become part of who we are. A comfort in a chaotic world.ā€ – paradise fell.

Hunch Power hits back with their new pacifist anthem, ‘Eye for an Eye’.

“I’d been wanting to write a pacifist song about revenge for ages. I was sure about borrowing Ghandi’s famous words for the title and chorus but I couldn’t find the right music to go with it. Black Star Riders share new single ‘Riding Out the Storm’

Black Star Riders – ‘Riding Out the Storm’

Next we take our News Report to the best new releases from the past week and we get started with Black Star Riders.

It was a big news week for the band as they both shared their new single and revealed their new guitarist. Yes, Wayward Sons guitarist Sam Wood joins the group and you can check out new single, ‘Riding Out the Storm’ above!

Ricky Warwick ā€œI first saw Sam back in 2019 when Wayward Sons were guests to Black Star Riders and I was absolutely blown away! I had Sam join me for some Fighting Hearts dates a few months back and knew he was the guy for us. If ever there was a new GUITAR HERO waiting in the wings, then itā€™s Sam! Black Star Riders have had some of the Worldā€™s finest guitar players in their ranks and Sam is truly up there as one of them. We couldnā€™t be happier!ā€

The single comes from forthcoming new album, ‘Wrong Side of Paradise’, and Warwick comments:

ā€œAs we get older, sadly we start to lose the ones around us who we love, having lost both my parents and some dear friends in the last few years Iā€™ve started to question and look at my feelings on my own mortality and morality.Ā Iā€™ve come to realise that death is a part of life and even in the darkest days (that we all get sometimes), Iā€™ve come to understand that every aspect of life should be an intensified experience and never taken for granted.ā€
Ā
He continues:Ā ā€œThe video was shot in downtown Los Angeles and directed by Tony Aguilera. I love the cinematography and different camera filters that Tony used during the shoot. I think it complements the essence of the song, which conveys reflections of mortality and consequences of choice. Life must end eventually, but love doesnā€™t.ā€

Hundred Reasons debut ‘New Glasses’

Hundred Reasons – ‘New Glasses’

Hundred Reasons also had new music on offer this week and you can listen to new single, ‘New Glasses’, above.

Vocalist Colin Doran had the following to say about the themes behind the track:

“The lyrics for this song are really about a person I used to work with that spent lots of time treating people badly to cover up their own inadequacies. They were not good at their job but, due to their massive ego and how they wished to be perceivedĀ by others, preferred to make others feel deficient. The song describes how I came to realise this. The amusing thing is that it was a working title as when we startedĀ writing it, Larry had actually got new glasses that day but the name stuck.”

The song comes from upcoming album, ‘Glorious Sunset’, which is out February 24th.

Bury Tomorrow share ‘Boltcutter’

Bury Tomorrow – ‘Boltcutter’

This week saw Bury Tomorrow share their new single, ‘Boltcutter’, which you can listen to above.

The tracks features on upcoming new album, ‘The Seventh Sun’, released March 31st.

Speaking of the track, guitaristĀ Kristan DawsonĀ shares,Ā ā€œfrom the second we put the finishing touches to Boltcutter, we knew it had to be a single. Whilst it is a fundamental Bury Tomorrow track, being both loud and heavy, it also emphasises the new era of our band.”

“Specifically, it highlights influences we havenā€™t necessarily channelled through Bury Tomorrow before, and itā€™s a pleasure to continue to expand the possibilities of our music. It began its existence through Tom crafting the foundations, with an ambient and electronic soundscape, before the rest of the band provided their usual expertise.ā€

ā€œConsidering its weighty riffs and catchy dual vocal hooks, we also knew that Boltcutter was going to be an undeniable addition to future setlists. And for those who have attended recent shows on our tour, Ā they will have already had a sneak preview. Weā€™ve loved being able to preview a single release like this with our fans, and it seems that it has already made an impact with teamBT and we canā€™t wait for the rest of our wonderful community to hear it.ā€

Little Triggers – ‘Personality Crisis’

UK rockers Little Triggers share their new single, ‘Personality Crisis’.

The track takes a swipe at social media influencers and the millions of young people who follow them. Tom remarks: ā€œI donā€™t feel any connection to this sort of instant gratification online culture. The minds of these digital influencers are a closed book to me. I just donā€™t get why so many people think they have something meaningful to say.ā€ Hamilton goes on to elaborate: ā€œThe personality crisis of the song title is both my alienation from this virtual world and also that of the individuals who think their online musings really matter. To them and their followers, I say get a life ā€“ a real life!ā€

MOSKITO – ‘517’

Fearless UK band MOSKITO are back with their new single, ‘517’, taken from upcoming mixtape, ‘Bad Love’ out January 27th.

ā€œ517 is a song which allows you to find yourself lost in the chaos, conjuring any emotion in which you allow yourself, this is your pageā€¦. What would you write? After all we all just architects of our own downfall! It’s like a letter to your ex. Full of optimism, pride, resentment, confusion, jealousy, loathing & a desperation to prove them wrong. 517 is the ultimate revenge bod.ā€ – Frontman Jake Rudd.

MYNK – ‘Boundaries’

London trio MYNK share their debut single, ‘Boundaries’.

Bex Morrison comments:

“The track is about the boundaries we set in order to function in different situations / relationships; the crossing of sacrifice and habitĀ meets somewhere in the middle to maintain a connection. Itā€™s aboutĀ the relatable internal questioning of ā€˜do I/donā€™t I?ā€™ and where that takes you, and how you can lose yourself in it.ā€
